🌾 Our Story – The Heart Behind Clarkston Farm
🌱 Where It All Began
The idea of farming didn’t come gradually—it hit all at once.
In 2003, I was sitting in my living room in Clawson reading a book by Eliot Coleman.
That moment changed everything.
It felt like a light had been switched on—clear, undeniable, and impossible to ignore. From that point on, I knew this was what I was meant to do.
For the next 10 years, I experimented in my backyard while searching for the right piece of land. I looked for a full decade.
Then in 2013, I found this land—and I knew immediately it was the one.
🌿 Building the Farm
Before planting anything, I spent three years focused on one thing:
Improving the soil.
Because everything starts there.
Today, soil health remains the foundation of everything we do.
🌦 The Reality of Farming
Farming is deeply rewarding—but it’s also incredibly challenging.
Mother Nature doesn’t always cooperate. She can be beautiful, generous… and brutal.
I respect her, but she definitely keeps things interesting.
🌞 Why August Means Everything
August is my favorite time to farm.
It’s busy. It’s hot. The harvest is in full swing. Everything feels like organized chaos—and I wouldn’t have it any other way. What makes it truly special are the people. The smiles, the thank-yous, and yes—even the hugs.
Those moments remind me why I do this.
🤝 What Success Means
Success isn’t measured in yield or numbers.
It’s when customers become friends.
It’s feeling content.
It’s appreciating where I am in life.
❤️ A Life’s Calling
Farming isn’t just what I do—it’s my life.
It’s what I was meant to do.
I just wish I had found it sooner.
